As someone who just had a birthday and is reflecting on life, there are several crucial lessons I wish I could impart to my 30-year-old self.

Dr. Ekstrom and I wound up our most delightful visit with our friends in the UK with an excursion to Stonehenge. It is difficult not to be awed by this prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England, which has mystified archaeologists, historians, and tourists for centuries.

Dr. Ekstrom and I decided to travel to the UK this year to celebrate my birthday. We have been in the major European capitals and have seen the touristy sites. What we love to do the most is to visit with friends and to enjoy the countryside. We are now visiting our friends, Mark and Sue, who live in a tiny village a little more than an hour southwest of Heathrow. Yes, even the little villages have wonderful English pubs and teahouses and are rich in history.

Pacific Ocean hurricanes like Hilary have a rich but often forgotten history of impacting the vast expanse of the Pacific Rim. The Pacific Ocean, with its warm waters and conducive atmospheric conditions, has been a breeding ground for hurricanes throughout history.

This past week, Drs. Bunkis and Ekstrom met in South Dakota and visited with friends, in conjunction with the Sturgis Motorcycle rally. No, we did not ride or visit Sturgis itself. Dr. Bunkis belongs to the Hamsters USA™ custom motorcycle owner club and we spent time socializing with friends and attending a few Hamster events.

It is not every day that an invitation arrives, requesting one’s presence at a dinner with a King!

This past week, the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, invited the Los Angeles Consular Corps and the US Ambassador to the United Nations, the Hon Linda Thomas-Greenfield, to the Getty House for a private reception; I was honored to attend.
