An Evening at the Getty House!

This past week, the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, invited the Los Angeles Consular Corps and the US Ambassador to the United Nations, the Hon Linda Thomas-Greenfield, to the Getty House for a private reception; I was honored to attend.

The Getty Mansion, also known as the Getty House, is a historic residence located in Los Angeles, California. Built in 1921 by Arthur Letts Sr., founder of the Broadway department store, the mansion showcases the Classical Revival architectural style. Since 1975, it has served as the official residence of the Mayor of Los Angeles, hosting various cultural, political, and official events. Mayor Thomas Bradley was the first Mayor to reside there and every Mayor since then has as well. Its historical significance, beautiful gardens, and symbolic importance as the Mayor’s residence make it a notable landmark in the city’s history.
