EMSELLA™ is a breakthrough treatment for urinary incontinence that is completely non-invasive. Urinary incontinence is a condition that can be caused by childbirth, menopause and the natural aging process, which causes a woman to lose control over the bladder. EMSELLA™ uses electromagnetic energy to trigger painless contractions in the pelvic floor, strengthening it much like the process of exercising a muscle in the gym.

The 28-minute treatment is equivalent to doing 13,000 kegel exercises at 90% of the muscles contraction capability, something an individual is otherwise unable to achieve. As a result, patients can achieve a strengthened pelvic floor without any surgery or invasive techniques, enjoying a significant reduction in symptoms of urinary incontinence.

The cost of your EMSELLA™ treatment doesn’t qualify for insurance coverage. To ensure that our patients have access to these procedures, Salisbury Plastic Surgery provides financing (CareCredit®, Alphaeon® Credit) with flexible payment options. Typically, 6 treatments costs $2,500.00.

How is the emsella™ treatment performed?

The EMSELLA™ treatment is a simple process that does not require any anesthesia. During each session, the patient remains fully clothed and comfortable sitting on the Emsella chair while electromagnetic energy is delivered to the pelvic region. Patients may feel a slight tingling in the pelvic floor muscles, but the process is comfortable and patients are typically able to relax for the duration of their 28-minute treatment session.

What kind of recovery can I expect from emsella™?

After the EMSELLA™ treatment, there is no downtime or recovery period necessary. Patients are able to return to work and other normal activities immediately following the procedure. Patients often notice results within just a day or two of their treatment, and these results will continue to improve over the following weeks as the muscles strengthen from treatment. We usually recommend a series of six treatment sessions that are performed within a 3-week period for best results with a single “boost” treatment every 6-12 months if needed at a price of $200.

Are the results from emsella™ permanent?

The EMSELLA™ procedure can produce long-lasting results that strengthen the pelvic floor and help reduce symptoms of urinary incontinence. However, they cannot prevent gradual changes from occurring in the future due to the natural aging process. Many patients enjoy results that last for years, but some patients may require maintenance treatments in the future. As we gather more data and experience we may offer this treatment off-label for rectal incontinence and for improved sexual function in men including erectile dysfunction.
