Laser hair removal: what to expect

Our specialist will review your skin appearance and consult with you to determine the best laser hair removal treatment plan. Before the laser hair removal treatment begins, you’ll be guided to our on-site procedure room where you’ll be offered eye protection. Your hair will then be trimmed to a few millimeters and a cooling agent (or cooling device) will be used in conjunction with the laser.

The goal of the gel or cooling device is to make the treatment more pleasant and effective. After which, the laser light will be used to target and eliminate hair follicles in a targeted manner without damaging or disturbing surrounding cells. The procedure may take 30 to 60 minutes to complete.

Laser hair removal results

After undergoing laser hair removal treatment, an ice pack or cooling agent will be applied to the area. In some cases, three to eight treatment sessions are required to achieve optimal results. Sessions are usually scheduled four to eight weeks apart. Your specialist will provide you with post-treatment care information. Because laser hair removal is a nonoperative procedure patients may return to their usual activities after the treatment.
