We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Compoginis (Dr C) to Orange County Plastic Surgery. He has been educated at some of the finest U.S. institutions including the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Southern California. He also is a double board certified surgeon who has successfully completed a general surgery residency and a second residency in plastic & reconstructive surgery.

Like many New Englanders, I probably waited longer than I should to have my facelift. I did not have the time, I reasoned. Mostly I did not know who to pick to do the procedure. We are so blessed to be doing something we truly love to do, day in and day out! How many people do you know who are not happy with their jobs and are just counting the years or days until they can retire? Being happy at work and loving what you do is an overall productivity booster, enhances performance and increases the chance of financial success.

We attended the annual consular meetings at the Latvian Embassy in Washington, DC this past week. We heard an update on the Three Seas Initiative (www.3siif.eu) and on Rail Baltica implementation of a rapid rail system based on European gauge rail system ranging from Estonia (through Latvia) to Berlin (www.railbaltica.org) – the scope of these projects is mind boggling given the size of Latvia!

What a magnificent weekend here in Southern California! We enjoyed a great cooking class at Sur La Table in Newport Beach Friday evening. On Saturday, we spend the day at the Boots in the Park Festival in Norco. We enjoyed the first three acts from comfortable sofas in the VIP tent because we were trying to stay out of the sun.

I practice gratitude on a daily basis. Service is one of the action practices of gratitude. Service has been ingrained in me since childhood – my parents were always very active in supporting those in need in our community as I was growing up.

This past week, we spent an evening with dear friends at the Mission Inn in Riverside and had a wonderful dinner at Duane’s Prime Steaks and Seafood at the Inn. Duane’s has an AAA Four Diamond rating, as well as top awards from Wine Spectator and others – truly a remarkable dinner! But what struck us the most was the spectacular architecture, which reminded us of many similar places we had visited in Europe.

It is hard to imagine a better mid-February weekend in Southern California. Temperatures were in the mid 80’s. We visited the Yanks Aircraft Museum at the Chino Airport with our guests from Latvia. We enjoyed the Super Bowl vibe. And Valentine’s Day is here!

What better time to think about lips than on Valentine’s Day! Lips represent one of the most sensuous parts of a body but the sense of beauty certainly various between species and cultures.
